Discovery
Racing westward with hopes of striking it big.
Who were those hopeful and adventurous individuals who braved unknown territory and harsh conditions. Hoping to find untold riches of silver, gold, zinc, and copper high in the treacherous rockies.
Growth
Prospectors camp evolved into workers housing/ unincorporated settlements and in turn to townsites.
Construction evolved from canvas walled tents into small log cabins. Cabins became larger using a mixture of logs, lumber, and canvas. These evolved into board and batten structures. Boardhouses, post offices, and saloons began to appear. As the population continued to grow and the prospects prospered informal settlements became townsites. Some of which still hold a populace, they persevered and became cities.
Decay
Harsh elements, waning resources, and war.
What once was a dream; discovered, grown, and prospered wanes as hope dissapates. What’s left is the scars in the landscape and the memories of what once was.
